Accidental Dairy Free treats
Something a little different for you today. Sure we love our crafts but along the way we need to eat and knowing what treats to keep you going are a winner for us.
January Spicy food post
What better way to kick off the January blues, than by getting your spice on and trying something new this winter.
October Comfort food
After a bit of a break, the food posts are back and so is my appetite for finding new recipes. The winter months always encourage me to find new things to cook as I don't mind spending time in the warm of the kitchen. I have been checking out You tube a lot for these treats and so am sharing a few new places to try and hunt for recipes.
All star American 4th July food
With it being 4th July and we know alot of our readers are from the US, we thought a nice little round up of a few delicious and quite frankly making me drool, recipes would be good for today!
Food for the sun
Dare I say it but it appears we may be starting to get a little sun around the UK now, it's about time! So I thought that some lovely treats for all the summer parties and BBQ's would be good to share and they are making my mouth water as I type!
First up is this fun Avocado bar idea from good old Martha Stewart, what would we do without her! It's just a fun take on the taco bar idea and good for you to boot! I am loving Avocado at the moment and so this looks like a fun idea for the next party!
Next is a family favourite from my childhood and one that has recently been showcased to my nieces from my brother. These dough twists are so good for the BBQ or campfire and you can dip them in jam, chocolate or anything really. Fun for the kids and adults, I might have to make a BBQ just to have them.
Then of course you have to have some kind of meat on a BBQ, even just for the men, as we all know they love to make fire and charcoal meat! These chicken skewers look great from a Lulu Lemon and Lace, who just happens to be a friend of a friend and so I know they will be amazing too!
and if those don't take your fancy, its always great to have a good treat to take with you to someone's house. I really want to try this cinnamon banana bread from Hemsley + Hemsley, anyone else loving their TV programme at the moment?
I think that is enough to keep us going for the meantime, I am finding it hard to concentrate on all these treats I am talking about! Time for lunch I think!
What are your failsafe recipes for taking to parties or for the BBQ? Let us know in the comments or send us to a site to check out.

A Sunday full of food brings a week of content
You may well have heard the phrase "a Sunday well spent brings a week of content" and that was very true yesterday. There is something really nice about eating and sharing good food on a Sunday. It gives you that warm feeling of friendship and just puts you in a better mood, well that's what I find anyway.
It always helps when you have been food shopping and have lots of yummy food in the fridge to choose from.
Yesterday was all about Avocado and Poached egg on toast for breakfast to start the day off right and then a big old Veggie roast dinner, as I had a friend coming over who is trying to keep off meat for a bit, so I thought for ease I would go meat free too. Got a few leftovers for my Monday lunch too, another bonus of cooking up a storm on a Sunday!
I always find I have more interest in cooking something different at the weekend as I have a bit more time I think. What's your favourite foods to make on a weekend?

June's Instagram round-up
The end of the month is nearly here and so I thought it was about time for a little Instagram round-up. If you have been watching our Instagram recently you will know that we took a little break to Barcelona and so that features quite a bit, but who doesn't love holiday pictures! Also as usual food is a big feature, its a big feature in my life and so it would only be right to show it off.
Live it: Rock & Rose
Over the long weekend we got to enjoy some time with friends and family as most of you did I am sure. One of the places we did this was at Rock & Rose over in Richmond. We have been before but it is always nice to go back to a place you have really enjoyed and get to eat some lovely food once again. This time was for a friends birthday and so we knew she would have organised her own dessert treats for us too - extra bonus.
We were seated in a little side room as there were a few of us and it was nice to be a little bit away from the main restaurant - as we can get pretty loud! We had pre-ordered our food and so there was not any food order waits, which always makes my stomach very happy and made for a simpler life.
The food as always was lovely, I opted for the Chilli Salt Squid to start and Sammy had the Soup of the Day and we both opted for Piri Piri Chicken for main. Then onto the treats for dessert that our friend Kelly had bought, most of which was handmade. Cake, marshmallows, cookies, macaroons and fudge, we could just about waddle home afterwards!
We had a great afternoon, full of fun, laughter and cocktails and would definitely recommend Rock & Rose for a visit. They do get booked up pretty quickly though, so I would also recommend booking in advance. The staff were lovely and really attentive and so we had all that we needed for a great afternoon.
It's making me hungry all over again!

Always the Guest
When I was thinking about what to post this week, I was thinking back on my September, which as a frequent wedding goer, was probably the most weddings in one month I have ever been to. All the weddings I have been to have been amazing and to see two people so in love on their wedding day is definitely something to enjoy. Obviously it's all about the food for me really! Only kidding.
The first wedding I ever went to was in 2002 and so I didn't have that childhood memory of being a bridesmaid in a pretty dress. But I have picked up a few things along the way too, including alot of dresses, which although I have never been married myself, I hope will be useful.
1. Venue
Pick a venue you love, I know that money is always going to be an issue, but if you love it, your guests will love it, you will love the photos in 20 years time at it and you will be glad you really thought about it and made it work for you.
2. Pick what's important
You might want to spend more on the dress, more on the venue, more on the food. But whatever it is, find out what you think is more important for you, not anyone else.
3. The food
If you love it, have it. Simple as that - don't worry about what others may or may not like. Also included here is the cake! I mean you know I had to talk about cake right! Make it special, make it you, make it tasty.
4. Don't sweat the small stuff
I have been around many a bride and all I know is that on the day, nothing else matters apart from you and your partner.
5. Photos
Get a good photographer and perhaps a Videographer as then when you start to forget what actually happened on the day (cos you will, it will go so quick) you can get that DVD on. Nothing is worse than realising you haven't got pictures you want either. So invest.
Weddings really are a personal thing and so by no means is this me telling you what to not do or to do, just go with what you really want and it will be the day you want.
Looking forward to the next batch of invites!

Foodie July in Instagrams
It has been one fun packed and busy July for both of us, but I will leave what Sammy has been up to, to her.
It has been a blur of hen parties and fun filled days which is always great for the summer months and I got to tick off one of my summer wishlist too, with a visit to the RA Summer show yesterday.
Wherever I have been this month though, I have had lots of food and a few drinks too. From fish and chips on Brighton pier, cocktails in a teacup and Lemonade in a jar, to seeing a massive Magnum at Summer Streets on Regent Street, London - I can only dream it was a real massive Ice cream.
I think I might need to go for a few extra swims in August!

Make it: Pancakes
It's pancake day tomorrow, which just means it gives me the extra excuse to eat and make pancakes for the whole of my meal!
I do like the usual crepe style pancakes but I have been trying out some different recipes this time, again, this is probably just so that I can eat more pancakes!
Makes about 6 small pancakes:
1 Banana
1 Egg
fresh or dried fruit. I used dry fruit for this one but I think some fresh fruit would be nicer. Just my preference!
Squash the banana and add the egg till its mixed, add the fruit and voila. Just pop a few spoonfuls in a pan and cook as usual.
So that gives you a few things to try tomorrow evening.
Yummy

I got this recipe for American style pancakes from Marvellous Miss M:
For 2 portions (6 pancakes), you will need:
1/2 tablespoon of baking powder
tiny pinch of salt - you might want to leave this out if you are using salted butter or any kind of margerine
1/2 teaspoon caster sugar
1 large egg
15g margarine or melted and cooled butter
150ml milk
113g plain flour
butter / margarine to fry
whichever toppings you want! Personally it's just good old lemon and sugar for me.
Mix all the ingredients together in a blender or with a whisk. Cook as usual.
For a healthier choice, I found this recipe on Pinterest somewhere. There are so many versions of this, that you can really make it your own.

H's Birthday foody Bonanza
So, today was my birthday and so I thought I would share with you just how today has unfolded, it went very food orientated - just how birthdays should be!
First, it started with cake! My mum does like to make a cake and has been baking my cakes for years! I seem to remember all sorts of shapes and styles of cake growing up and just because I am now in my thirties, I still get a cake! It was Lemon cake with Chocolate icing, mmmmmmmm.
Then I met up with Sammy and Anna at Bill's in Reading, for some food and I got this lovely Mango, Passionfruit and Strawberry juice with my chicken skewers meal - sorry totally forgot to photograph that!
They have Bill's restaurants all over the place and so you should definitely check them out, the food is lovely and the puddings are really really good!
After a spot of shopping to walk a bit of it off, I am spending the evening in a food coma - well maybe just one more bit of cake!

Live it. Love it. Make it. What a year 2012
This year has had chaos, panic and some grumpiness but show me a year that doesn't! Above all else though its been fun and this little blog has kept us both going, even with some quieter moments.
We thought we should share some moments with you that really stood out!
The time we did a Bunting workshop for the Craft Coop pop-up shop in Maidenhead in the summer and then Kelley sent us this lovely picture of her daughter with her finished bunting. Kelley got married recently too, so congrats!
For me it was my niece being born, and in this picture we give another great achievement this year, the Olympics a mention! She is so cute and although I have lots of friends with children, a few who were born this year too, there is something about having a niece that is so so special!, loves her, xxx.
There was quite a few 30th Birthday parties this year and of course Sammy had to celebrate in style with a sweetie bar and a rainbow cake! It was the BIGGEST cake I have ever seen! We have established that we are best friends and that we are never getting rid of each other and I think this blog of ours cements that, so it makes it all the more special and shows how much we like cake!
We accomplished quite a few firsts this year, this was a picture from our first workshop with the Craft Coop, back in March, wow time flies, I can't believe that this time last year we hadn't met all you lovely Chicks! Deborah, Teresa, Anna, Yolande and the rest of you, we feel so privileged to call you our friends.
As H said it has been for myself and a few of my friends, our 30th year, one of the best parties has to be our friend Kelly's Barbie party, I am biased as I was involved in decorating the venue, but it was genuinely one of the best nights, so many giggles!
One of our best memories of the year has to be 'Live it Vintage' the event we put on in the summer. We are still a little surprised that we managed to get Sammy organised enough to run an event, but then I have been doing it for years so I knew we could pull it off. Again I think the best thing that came out of it was the friendships that we gained. Carly, Laura and of course Anna in particular have become like members of the Li.Li.Mi family, love you guys.
Roll on 2013 then and check out any of our other posts from the year if you managed to miss anything!

Live it. Love it. Make it forever!
Link for the Week: Autumnal Soup from Rosalilium
This weeks link is a foodie one again! With winter coming it is definitely soup weather and H has been trying out new recipes to keep from having the same old same old soups.
I saw this one Mexican Chicken Soup recipe on The lovely Rosalilium's blog this morning and so I think I might try it out this week, so I hope you will too!
Elizabeth's blog is definitely worth a read too!
Make it
