Makers Month: Designer/Maker Favourites

Monthly favourites time again and this time I am sharing some goodies from my designer/maker treasures that I love the most.

J'adore it: Haute Couture

I have always been fascinated by Haute Couture.  The art of fine sewing, bespoke sewing, painstaking detail and hours of labour to produce a garment so exquisite it is barely believable.  It is fashion at it's highest level.  It is fabric artistry.  I love watching the catwalk shows on YouTube and recently I have been coming across some videos from some of the masters of haute couture and just had to share them with you.  The attention to detail is staggering, it is a joy to watch these amazing artists create these garments.  I literally can't stop watching!

The first two videos are from Dior and the cutest thing about these is they are creating miniature dresses of famous Dior designs, they are exquisite.  I also love the video that takes you on a tour around the exhibition where these miniatures were on show (read more about the exhibition HERE)

These other videos are from Chanel and Schiapparelli showing the processes involved in their couture collections. They are totally fascinating.

What do you think? Are you itching to get your hands on an embroidery frame and have a go? Or is it all a little too much and you would rather watch from afar? Is it not your kind of thing at all? I would love to know your thoughts. I am completely addicted to watching these if nothing else!

I hope you enjoy watching these videos as much as I did, if only to appreciate the work that goes into each piece of clothing.

Have a lovely weekend

Love it:Our Summer Holiday Wishlists

Summer is in full swing and it is so nice to be able to get our super summery clothes that are normally reserved for holidays out from the depths of the wardrobe. A nice a excuse to sprinkle in a few new bits and pieces too of course. What are your favourite pieces that you have your eye on for your summer holidays??

Lilac is Back! Fashion Favourites Wishlist

1.Sunglasses by Topshop,  2.Converse trainers,  3.Anna Lou of London Necklace,  4.Fluffy cardigan by Vila,  5.Lilac Pantone Mug, 6.Lilac bag  by Accessorize,  7.Midi skirt by Asos,  8.Full Steam Ahead Essie polish.

It is no surprise if you have read this blog for a while that I love anything purple. So when the Pantone colour of the year was announced as 'Radiant Orchid', I was a happy bunny. But today I want to show off another shade of purple that is making it's (in my opinion long awaited) comeback this year... Lilac.

Forget the memories of 90's shiny satin bridesmaids dresses and Granny's lacy lavender bags, Lilac has had a slick makeover for it's return. Still soft and sugary but this time with a luxury twist. Matt textures, paired with strong metallics and neons, expect to see this sugar almond tone making it's way to the top of the pastel pile for spring.

What's your favourite colour for this spring going to be?

How We Wear...Winter Coats

We are starting a new series for the new year. 'How we wear' will be H and I showing you a little peek into our wardrobes, we are by no means fashion bloggers, but we both have quite different styles when it comes to clothes, despite shopping in mostly the same places. We thought it would be interesting to see how each other styled a particular piece each month.
For January it is winter coats.

H says: I am so glad my friend Jen persuaded me to buy this coat on a recent shopping trip, Yellow is not normally a colour I would choose but I love the colour blue so it actually compliments a lot of my wardrobe. It is so cosy and adds a great pop of colour to any outfit.  I wear boots all the time in the winter and the studded straps on these give them a 'rock chick' feel which I love.

H wears: Coat by Miss Selfridge, Jeans and boots by Dorothy Perkins (similar here) , Black Jumper and scarf by H&M.

Sammy says: I bought this coat on the hottest day of the year back in August. I had been looking for a duffel style coat for ages and the colour of this one was perfect (It matches my hair!) It is so warm so I have to keep it for truly chilly days. I really struggle to find boots that will fit my calves so New Look's wide fit range are a blessing. I love the taupe colour of these, they go with everything!

Sammy wears: Coat by Primark, Boots by New Look (wide fit) Dress by New Look Inspire (Similar here), Scarf by River Island, Nail Varnish by Essie 'It's Genius' Rings by Accessorize.

Cosy January Fashion Favourites Wishlist

1. Sports Direct snow boots, 2. Divergent by Veronica Roth. 3. Dorothy Perkins Sparkle socks, 4. New Look Kimono cardigan, 5. Forever21 Plus Aztec hoodie, 6. New Look Grey tote bag, 7. Forever 21 Bib necklace.

I don't know about you but I am so busy in December that I never find time for reading, so January is my month for sitting cosied up in bed and getting thorough a couple of books on my Kindle. I actually got a paperback copy of Divergent for Christmas, so I am looking forward to getting stuck into a real book for a change. Wrapping up warm is a must here in the UK, Snow is on it's way and I want to be ready. I am in love with these Sports Direct bargain versions of this winters 'it boot' from Sorel and the Aztec hoodie from Forever 21 +. I am so excited that they are now doing a plus size range! Another favourite for January is this statement necklace also from Forever 21, it would bring a splash of warmth to any winter outfit, They have a great range of statement necklaces.

How do you like to stay cosy and warm in these non-festive winter months?
