Come craft with us: Jewellery 101

We will be doing our last regular class at Norden Farm, Maidenhead on Thursday 24 April and this one is all about learning how to make and repair your own Jewellery with our Jewellery 101 workshop.

As usual the class is £20 and is from 7-8.30pm in the evening and so the perfect excuse for a little relaxed time to learn a new skill.  As usual, all of the materials are supplied and so you don't have to remember a thing.  You can book your place here.

This workshop is for those of you who have always wanted to make your own jewellery or repair a beloved necklace yourself instead of costly repairs or it languishing in your drawer. Come down for our last craft club and join us for a starter session teaching you some basic jewellery techniques to make a pair of earrings and a bracelet from scratch.

Come Craft with us: Bunting Workshop

On Thursday 27 March we will be running our penultimate class at Norden Farm, Maidenhead.  This one is to make your own personalised bunting in a name of your choice.

We have such fun at these classes and so hope that those close to Maidenhead will come and see us and of course make your own personalised bunting.  Both Sammy and I have our own on our walls and so its a great thing for yourself or for a gift.

The workshop costs £20.00 each and runs from 7-8.30 pm.  
All materials are supplied for you, so just turn up and have a go.

The 'Button Jewellery' workshop was our last craft club at Norden Farm for a while, but don't worry, we are back in September with four sessions of crafty goodness taking you all the way to Christmas.

We will show you how to make bracelets or necklaces using the many tubs of buttons we have.  You can learn how to make jewellery for yourself or as gifts and get some inspiration for further jewellery ideas. 

Why not make something special for a friend or even a distinctive piece to go with an outfit for that wedding or party this summer.  There is nothing like someone asking where you got it from to make you feel so good when you say you made it yourself.  Also, if you have some buttons at home you would like to use, then please do bring them along and we can add them to your piece to make it extra special.

We have some more coming up in May and June - Yey - and so I thought I would use my Link for the Week to let you know what will be going on.

Thursday 30th May - 7-8.30pm - Ribbon Rose Corsage

We did something similar for our first ever Norden Farm Workshop and it proved very popular and so we thought it would be a good idea for the May Craft Club.  In this session you will make your own Ribbon corsages which can be used for bouquets or brooches amongst many other things.  You will use an array of ribbons and embellishments from the craft club table and we will give you the skills to make your own accessories at home.  You can book on the Norden Farm Website here.

Embroidery Workshop this week

This Thursday (25th April ) is our Embroidery Workshop down at Norden Farm, Maidenhead - yey exciting.  We have loved doing these workshops and showing our participants some new skills and hope they have enjoyed our ramblings just as much!

There are still a few spaces left to take part and take home some of your own work and you can book online here.

You will learn lots of different embroidery techniques during the workshop and get to see some of the work we have done - everyone likes a bit of a nosey hey!

You will then be able to put all the stitches together to make something pretty to take away with you.

If you can't make this one, not to worry, we will have some further workshops in May and June down at Norden farm and we will let you have the links to book as soon as they are up on their website.

Craft Club: Make a Vintage Apron at Norden Farm + Free Worksheet Download

Last Thursday was the second of our Craft Clubs at Norden Farm Arts Centre.  It was the first where we had asked our attendees to bring along their sewing machines, we were a little unsure of how it would work out, but we had a great group of ladies and a really fun time. You can Download our worksheet here if you want to have a go at making one yourself.

As this was a smaller group they were all lucky enough to take home a copy of the latest Cloth Magazine.

This cupcake fabric was made for vintage style aprons.

If you want to have a go at making an apron like we have, we adapted McCall's pattern 5284 which is a really cute apron pattern with a few different variations.

This week's Link for the week is all about our next workshop coming up in March - a bit of a shameless plug hey!  But when you have your own blog, when can't you do that!

We are doing a Vintage Inspired Apron Workshop down at Norden Farm on Thursday 28th March.  Now I know it is the day before the Easter Weekend, but what better way to start your lovely weekend off with a creative start!

We will help you make your own Vintage inspired Apron and you can add your own style using ruffles, pockets and back ties.  You would need to bring your own Sewing machine to this class and be a little good at sewing already, but this should be a fun class to improve those sewing skills.

Make it: Come and Craft with Us

Some BIG news for you all this week.  

We are going to be going workshop crazy and doing some workshops in the next few months down at Norden Farm, Maidenhead, which is just near Sammy.

Now I know you have all been waiting until payday after the Christmas overspend and so there are now no excuses to come down and see us and get a bit crafty - save a bit more money and learn and new skill for 2013.

Fabric Flowers. Hearts and Bows

SOLD OUT

First up at the end of February is now SOLD OUT unfortunately, but good for us; and is the 'Fabric Hearts and Flowers' workshop, where we will help people to make their own flower corsages, adorn hearts and make pretty bow accessories.  We are really excited that this has sold out and also hope to do more of these in the future, so watch this space!

Make an Apron

The second workshop takes place on Thursday 28th March where we will help you to make your own Vintage Inspired Apron.  You can add your own style using ruffles, pockets and back ties.  You would need to bring your own Sewing machine to this class and be good at sewing already, but this should be a fun class to kick start the Easter Weekend!  Who knows, you may even be able to make some as presents for those April Birthdays!

And lastly on Thursday 25th April we have our Embroidery Artwork workshop where you will learn a variety of stitches and skills so that you can design and make your own picture.  Whether that be a scene or a little cute creature, we will give you the skills to be able to make something really cute for your home.
